Katy Perry introduced herself to the world with her hit debut single “I Kissed A Girl” in 2008. Since then, Perry has proved that she is not a one-hit wonder.
With her catchy, fun lyrics and powerful voice Perry became the first artist ever to spend an entire year on the Billboard Hot 100’s. According to Billboard.com, Perry’s victory first began with “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg. The song debuted at No. 2 on the countdown on May 29, 2010. The song spent six weeks at No. 1 starting June 19, 2010.
Her following single “Teenage Dram” shot up the charts to No. 1 on Sept. 18, 2010. “Firework” and “E.T” would be the next two singles to keep Perry on the chart to complete her 52-week win.
Previously, Ace of Base held the longest charting with 48 weeks, according to Billboard.
