On August 18th, 1969, musician Jimi Hendrix performed “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Woodstock festival. His version of it over the guitar sparked major controversy. This is the time of the war between the U.S.A and Vietnam. People were outraged by this war and called for peace. They saw no reason to be at war with Vietnam. Hendrix used his chords to make catastrophic noises of bombs, screams, alarms and everything associated with acts such as this. This performance is one of the most memorable performances in history and is still quite relevant for what is happening today.
